LASTLVL Mastering — Terms, Policies & Guarantee

Effective Date: 12/05/2025

Terms of Service

These Terms, Policies & Guarantee (“Terms”) govern all services provided by LASTLVL Mastering (“LASTLVL,” “we,” “our,” “us”), operated as a sole proprietorship by Aramis (“Engineer”). By placing an order, submitting files, or using our website or upload portal, you (“Client”) agree to these Terms in full.

1. Definitions

Client – The individual or entity purchasing or using mastering services from LASTLVL.

Services – Any mastering, remastering, consulting, or related audio services provided by LASTLVL.

Master – The final stereo (or approved format) audio file(s) delivered by LASTLVL.

Mix – The pre-master mix file(s) provided by the Client for mastering.

Preferred Master – A third-party master submitted for comparison under the LASTLVL Guarantee.

Portal – The upload/delivery portal or any digital system used to upload or download project files.

Website – Any website or online property owned or controlled by LASTLVL.

2. Scope of Services

2.1 LASTLVL provides professional audio mastering Services for singles and projects, subject to acceptance.

2.2 We reserve the right to accept or refuse any project at our sole discretion, with or without explanation.

2.3 These Terms apply to all Services, including standard mastering, rush orders, guarantee-related work, and any work delivered via our Portal or direct communication.

3. Ordering & Payment Terms

3.1 All prices and rates are determined by LASTLVL and may change at any time.

3.2 Payment is due in full before final Masters are considered cleared for public release.

3.3 No refunds are offered for mastering Services except where explicitly covered under the LASTLVL Guarantee (Section 18) or where LASTLVL chooses to cancel a project before any work has begun.

3.4 By placing an order, the Client confirms they are authorized to purchase Services for the material submitted (ownership or proper license).

3.5 Any taxes, duties, or transaction fees are the responsibility of the Client unless otherwise stated.

3.6 Unauthorized chargebacks or payment disputes are a violation of these Terms. If a payment is reversed improperly, all licenses to use the Master are revoked, and LASTLVL may dispute the chargeback and/or seek recovery of fees and associated costs.

4. File Submission Requirements

At LASTLVL Mastering, we usually request files as follows:

  • 1 WAV – Mixed Instrumental (peak at no higher than -6 dB)
  • 1 WAV – Mixed Vocals (peak at no higher than -6 dB)
  • 1 MP3 – Full reference mix or previous master (as is)

Bypass/remove any effects/plugins on your master channel. Keep mix FX.

Both WAVs are lowered an equal amount so that they peak no higher than -6 dB. No clipping. Leave MP3 reference as is.

Label clearly (e.g. “Artist name - Song name - Instrumental.wav”).

If you're unable to provide separate instrumental and a cappella files, we can still master from a single WAV file - which is the traditional way. We simply request them separate because it gives us more precision and flexibility during mastering.

The MP3 reference should be the version you (or the artist) have been listening to. If you had bus processing on that mix, leave it on the MP3. If you have a previous premaster or master from another service, you may include that as well.

5. Mix Approval, Revisions & Remasters

We only offer free revisions in some cases. For example, if an error occurs on our end for any reason, it will be corrected at no charge. We offer a guarantee to match or beat ANY MASTER (of the same song mix) from ANY OTHER SERVICE within 2 attempts (2 free revisions) or your money back. If the revision request is just a creative preference of the artist/client, or the song is to be remastered due to a small mix change, there is a $35 revision fee. If a new mix is provided that is completely different from the first, it would be considered a new master. must be within 48hrs

6. Turnaround Times & Rush Orders

Standard turnaround time varies depending on workload and is provided as an estimate only.

A rush fee of $35 applies for 24-hour delivery, subject to availability and explicit confirmation by LASTLVL.

Turnaround is measured from the time all correct files and full payment are received. Incorrect or incomplete files may delay turnaround.

7. Business Hours & Communication

LASTLVL does not adhere to strict posted public business hours, but operates on a professional schedule.

Responses to emails or portal messages may take up to 24–48 hours depending on workload.

Communication occurs primarily through email and/or the contact methods listed on the website or upload portal.

8. Mix Quality & Right to Refuse

LASTLVL is not responsible for issues caused by poor, distorted, over-processed, or technically flawed mixes.

If a mix has issues that significantly limit mastering quality, LASTLVL may, at our discretion:

  • Request a corrected mix (with no refund; the Client must re-send), or
  • Decline the project and refund the mastering fee before work begins, or
  • Deliver a “best effort” master with no guarantee, no refund, and limited or no revision rights if the Client insists on proceeding despite warnings.

LASTLVL reserves the right to refuse or cancel any project at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to poor mix quality, problematic content, abusive behavior, or repeated violation of these Terms.

9. File Delivery, Download Expiry & Restoral Fee

Masters are delivered via digital download, email link, or portal.

Downloads for all songs will expire two weeks from the date received. After this time, there will be a $50 restoral fee for re-sent files assuming we have the ability to do it. No guaranteed storage.

The Client is responsible for downloading and safely backing up all masters and related files.

10. Portfolio Use & Credits

Unless explicitly requested otherwise in writing, LASTLVL may use masters for private or public portfolio examples, before/after demonstrations, and social media or promotional materials.

The Client may request that their project not be used publicly in the portfolio by notifying LASTLVL in writing before or at the time of delivery.

When credits are shown in digital or physical releases, the master should be credited as: “Mastered by Aramis at LASTLVL Mastering”.

Full payment must be completed before any public release of the master. The Client must not mis-credit or falsely assign mastering credit to another engineer when LASTLVL provided the master.

11. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate contact information and project details.
  • Provide the correct, final mix files as specified.
  • Review deliverables within the stated windows (48 hours for revisions; 2 weeks for downloads).

Clients may not copy, distribute, upload, or publicly share any unfinished, unpaid, or draft masters without written permission from LASTLVL.

Clients may not bypass, manipulate, modify, reverse-engineer, or extract audio from any file delivery system, player, preview link, or other technical method used by LASTLVL.

If temporary or accidental access to files or folders is granted due to technical or human error, the Client remains bound by these Terms. Unauthorized downloading, duplication, or sharing of any file is prohibited.

LASTLVL is not responsible for hacking, third-party breaches, platform vulnerabilities, or email/hosting provider issues. Once files are delivered to the Client, security and storage are the Client’s responsibility.

Clients may not resell LASTLVL’s mastering services as their own, misrepresent LASTLVL’s pricing, identity, or deliverables, or present LASTLVL’s work as their own engineering or mastering work.

Any fraudulent, deceptive, or bad-faith activity (including fraudulent chargebacks or scams) may result in immediate termination of services, revocation of licenses to use the masters, permanent ban from future services, and possible legal action if necessary.

13. Content & Conduct

LASTLVL reserves the right to refuse content that we deem harmful, abusive, or inappropriate at our sole discretion.

Abusive, harassing, or defamatory communication toward LASTLVL or its personnel may result in immediate termination of services and refusal of future work.

14. Intellectual Property & Licensing

The Client retains ownership of their underlying composition and original sound recording.

LASTLVL retains all rights to its processes, chains, presets, settings, session files, and internal techniques.

The Client is granted a license to use the delivered masters for commercial release and distribution only after full payment is made.

LASTLVL is not obligated to provide DAW session files, plugin chains, presets, or internal documentation.

Masters may not be used to train AI models or to create mastering templates or automated services without explicit written permission.

15. Sharing & Pre-Release Use

Clients may share the master privately with trusted collaborators (artist, producer, mixer, manager, label) for feedback before final payment, as long as the master is not released publicly.

Public posting of the master (social media, streaming, leaks, etc.) is not allowed until full payment has been made.

The master file must remain unaltered prior to official release, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

16. Limitations of Liability & Disclaimers

Audio perception is subjective, and playback systems vary. LASTLVL cannot guarantee specific results on all speakers, headphones, or environments.

LASTLVL is not responsible for distribution or upload issues with streaming platforms or aggregators, financial loss, missed opportunities, or business outcomes related to the music, or third-party actions, technical failures, or compatibility issues outside our control.

Under no circumstances shall LASTLVL’s total liability exceed the amount paid by the Client for the specific service in question.

All services are provided “as is” with no warranty beyond what is explicitly written in these Terms and in the LASTLVL Guarantee.

17. Public Release & Credit

The Client is free to release the master publicly as soon as it is delivered and fully paid for.

When credits are shown, the appropriate mastering credit is: “Mastered by Aramis at LASTLVL Mastering”.

The LASTLVL Guarantee

The LASTLVL Guarantee is a performance-based guarantee designed to give Clients confidence in the quality of our masters. This is not a general satisfaction guarantee.

What the Guarantee Covers

The Guarantee applies only when all of the following are true:

  • You purchased a paid master for a single song from LASTLVL (not an EP or album package).
  • It is the first paid master of that specific song from LASTLVL.
  • You believe there is a Preferred Master from another service (of the same mix) that you genuinely prefer.
  • You submit that Preferred Master under the rules listed below.
  • You submit your claim within 2 days (48 hours) of receiving the LASTLVL master.

What Counts as a “Preferred Master”

The Preferred Master must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Full-length WAV file (no snippets, previews, or partial songs).
  • Uncompressed 16-bit or 24-bit WAV (no MP3, AAC, or other lossy formats).
  • Downloadable file (no streaming-only links or screenshots).
  • Created from the exact same mix that was provided to LASTLVL.
  • Created by a professional mastering engineer or service (including professional AI services if a proper WAV is provided).
  • Suitable for gain-matched comparison, not artificially or unfairly louder just for shock value.
  • In the Client’s view, clearly preferable in translation, tonal balance, or overall listening experience.

Automatic Disqualifiers

The Preferred Master is automatically disqualified if:

  • It is heavily clipped, distorted, or inflated purely to appear louder.
  • It is not the full-length version of the song.
  • It is an MP3, AAC, or any other lossy / compressed format.
  • It is a 32-bit float WAV intended to gain an unfair loudness advantage.
  • It is not downloadable.
  • It was created from a different mix than the one submitted to LASTLVL.
  • It relies on gimmicky loudness that does not translate well across systems.

What LASTLVL Will Do

If the Preferred Master qualifies, LASTLVL will:

  • Carefully compare the LASTLVL master and the Preferred Master using gain-matched A/B evaluation to remove loudness bias.
  • Make up to 2 attempts to match or beat the Preferred Master.
  • These attempts may include alternate versions, tonal adjustments, or different approaches to loudness and dynamics.

If, after these 2 attempts, LASTLVL in good faith cannot match or beat the Preferred Master, the Client will receive a full refund of the mastering fee for that song only.

Limits on Guarantee Use

  • The Guarantee applies only to the first paid master of a song.
  • There is a limit of one Guarantee claim per customer per month.
  • There is a maximum of three Guarantee claims per year per Client.
  • LASTLVL may refuse additional Guarantee claims beyond these limits.

When the Guarantee Is Void

The LASTLVL Guarantee becomes void if:

  • The Client publicly posts negative, misleading, or unfair comparisons between the LASTLVL master and the Preferred Master while the Guarantee process is still ongoing.
  • The Client posts insults, harassment, hate speech, or defamatory statements about LASTLVL Mastering or its personnel.
  • The Client alters the LASTLVL master file in any way (normalizing, EQ, limiting, converting, editing, etc.) before comparison. All comparisons must use the original, untouched master provided by LASTLVL.

What This Guarantee Is Not

  • This is not a “money-back if you’re unhappy” policy. Subjective dissatisfaction alone does not qualify for a refund.
  • This does not promise that LASTLVL will outperform every mastering engineer or service on Earth in every scenario.
  • The Guarantee applies only to the specific mix submitted and only within the structured comparison and rules defined here.

The purpose of this Guarantee is fairness and confidence, not exaggerated universal claims.

How to Submit a Guarantee Claim

To submit a Guarantee claim, the Client must:

  • Email [email protected].
  • Use the subject line: LASTLVL GUARANTEE CLAIM.
  • Attach the LASTLVL master and the Preferred Master as downloadable WAV files.
  • Include the song title, relevant mix information, and any requested verification that the mix is the same.

LASTLVL reserves the right to reject a submitted Preferred Master if it fails to meet these qualifications. LASTLVL retains final say in determining qualification, comparison methodology, and whether the Guarantee applies in a specific case. LASTLVL reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue the Guarantee or its terms at any time, with changes applying prospectively.

Refund Policy

All sales are final once mastering work has begun.

Refunds are only available if LASTLVL chooses to cancel a project before any work has started, if the Client qualifies under the LASTLVL Guarantee, or if a refund is explicitly offered by LASTLVL in writing under special circumstances.

Dissatisfaction based purely on subjective taste does not qualify for a refund. Unauthorized chargebacks will be considered a breach of these Terms.

Payment information is processed securely by third-party payment processors; LASTLVL does not store full card details.
